What is the Notion Web Clipper?
The Notion Web Clipper is the official browser extension offered by Notion. It enables you to easily save the content and URL of a webpage to a page or database in your Notion workspace.
This makes it possible to quickly collect and save links to useful resources while conducting research with just one click in your browser, without the need to manually copy and paste anything into Notion.
The extension is available for all major browsers and is completely free to use, regardless of your Notion subscription plan.
However, there is one caveat to the app in its current state. For some websites, the function to download the actual page content directly into Notion does not work reliably and is often incomplete or may not work at all.
Read on to learn how to use the extension and to explore viable alternatives.
How to Use the Notion Web Clipper
Download & Install on Chrome, Safari & Firefox
First, you need to download and install the Notion Web Clipper extension for your browser. The download links below will lead you to the relevant pages for each browser to do so.
The Chrome extension also works with all Chromium-based browsers that support the use of extensions, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, and others.
On Desktop with Windows & Mac
Once you have installed the browser extension, simply browse to a webpage that you would like to save to your Notion workspace and click on the Notion logo extension icon.
A small popup menu will appear, allowing you to choose your Notion workspace and a specific database or page as the extension’s save location for your web clips. Here you can also modify the page title before saving.
Clicking on the Save page button will start the process of saving the page content and URL to the selected destination in your Notion workspace, where you will find it a few seconds later.
On Your Mobile Device with iOS & Android
The Notion mobile app itself comes with a built-in web clipper function, allowing you to save the content of a webpage to your Notion workspace without the need for an additional app.
To use it, simply download and install the Notion app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Once installed, you can utilize your smartphone browser's share function to save a webpage to Notion by tapping on the Notion logo in the share menu.
Just like with the desktop browser extension, you are able to select the workspace and database or page before saving in the popup menu that appears after tapping on the Notion logo. That’s it!
