All you need to know about changing the language of Notion in one comprehensive tutorial, so that you can easily switch between and use Notion in different languages.
Changing the Language on Your Computer
To change the language of your Notion account on your computer, just follow these three simple steps:
- Navigate to the Notion sidebar and click on Settings & members.
- Click and open the Language & region settings.
- Choose your desired language from the Language dropdown menu.
The steps are identical, whether you are using a browser or the Windows or macOS Notion desktop app.
Changing the Language in the Notion App
The language setting is not tied to your Notion account and you can use different languages on desktop and the Notion mobile app at the same time.
On iOS for iPhone & iPad
Notion will use the system language set on your iOS device, if it is available. Otherwise it will default to English.
Change the language of your Notion app and find out which other languages are currently available by following these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Find and tap on Notion in the list of settings.
- Tap on Language.
- Tap any language in the list to activate it.
On Android Phones & Tablets
Notion will use the system language set on your Android device, if it is available. Otherwise it will default to English.
To change the language of the Notion Android app, you have to change the system language set on your device to one of the available languages.
Available Languages
Notion is currently available in the following languages:
- English (US)
- Korean
- Japanese
- French
- German
- Spanish (Spain)
- Spanish (Latin America)
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Finnish
- Danish
- Dutch
- Norwegian
- Swedish
- Simplified Chinese
- Traditional Chinese
Support for new languages is added continuously as Notion expands into new countries. If your language is not supported yet, make sure to check the settings from time to time to see when it gets added.
Changing & Adding Spell Check Languages
If you are using the Notion desktop app for Windows or macOS, then you can also change and add multiple Notion spell check languages by choosing them from the Spellchecker languages dropdown menu.
Notion will then highlight all misspelled words on your pages with regards to all selected languages. This is very useful when you are adding content in different languages to your Notion workspace.
When using Notion in your browser, this setting is not available, as the spell check will then be performed by your browser. In this case, check your browser’s settings to make changes to the spell check languages.
Changing the Calendar to Start on Monday
While you’re at it, you might also want to change how calendars are displayed in your Notion workspace.
By default, weeks in any calendar view in Notion start on Sunday. If you want to change that to Monday, simply click and activate the Start week on Monday toggle within the same settings tab.
This should be all the information you need to set up Notion in your preferred language.
