Adding Icons as Custom Emojis in Notion
To quickly add any default Notion icon — or any other image file — to your text and heading blocks in Notion, just follow the steps below:
- Download the icon you need as image file using the Notion Icons Gallery tool. (Detailed instructions below!)
- In a text or heading block, type : followed by any text to open the emoji menu.
- Click on the + or + Add emoji button.
- Upload the icon file.
- Set a suitable name for the custom emoji and click Save.
That’s it! The icon will now be added to the text or heading block.
The new custom emoji icon will also stay available across your entire Notion workspace in the : emoji menu — no need to upload it again.
Where to Find & Download the Default Notion Icons
You can easily download any Notion icon as an image file using the Notion Icons Gallery tool here on my website.
Just open the tool page, set the format toggle to SVG and the type toggle to Icons, find the icon you want, and right-click or long-press it to download it to your device.
Then, in step #4 above, simply select the downloaded file.
